The digital community has been left mourning the sudden loss of Brian Chira, a raising TikTok star who attracted plenty of followers with his engaging content and vibrant personality.
The life of the 23-year-old social media sensation was cut short after he had been involved in a hit-and-run accident in Karuri, Kiambu County on March 16th, 2024.
As reported by Standard Media, the young Kenyan was spending the night at a popular restaurant in Gacharage together with a friend, but the two were asked to leave the place for causing disturbance and being drunk, allegedly.
When he left the resort, he got on a motorcycle together with his friend and just as they reached the Gacharage roundabout, Chira asked to be taken home. As they passed the service lane towards Ruaka bit heading towards Ndenderu on the wrong side, Chira alighted from the motorcycle and ran towards the main road when he was struck by a white canter that failed to make a stop.
It was reported that Chira’s lifeless body was picked up around 4 am at Ambassador along Western Bypass (Ndenderu – Ruaka stretch).
Chira’s funeral was attended by a huge crowd, which stunned the organizers who were forced to set more seats and tents. The members of the “Chira Clan,” as they referred to themselves, paid their tributes to the late Internet sensation and even contributed to the funeral expenses, raising over $60,000.
Speaking to BBC, one of the organizers of Chira’s funeral, Faustine Lukale, who goes by the name Baba Talisha on social media, said, “These were just random TikTokers, no-one really mobilised them. We actually thought they were attending another burial in the neighbourhood.”
The crowd of young but unruly people who came to say their last goodbyes to Chira live streamed, took videos and selfies around Chira’s gravesite.
In the past, Chira revealed to his followers that he was HIV positive, which eventually led to alcohol abuse.

It’s a no-brainer that sleep is vital for one’s health. That is why so many researchers study the best way to get good quality shut-eye. However, forget chamomile tea and meditating before bed. According to new research, women sleep better next to dogs. That’s right; Canisius College in New York State conducted a study that found that canines make better-sleeping partners than humans or cats.
“We found that women commonly rate dogs as better bed partners than cats and human partners and report that their dogs enhance their sleep quality,” Christy Hoffman, Ph.D., animal behaviorist and lead researcher of the study.
Hoffman surveyed almost one thousand women living in the United States to come to these findings. The results showed that 55% of the participants shared their bed with at least one dog and 31% with at least one cat. Also, 57% of these women shared a bed with a human partner, while the rest did not. [1]
Hoffman also discovered why dogs seemed to make the best bed companions. The first reason is that dogs’ sleeping patterns, as opposed to cats, more closely resemble those of humans.
“The difference between dogs and cats is not surprising because dogs’ major sleep periods tend to coincide more closely with humans’ than do cats,’” said Hoffman.
However, while there may be benefits of these similar sleeping patterns, more research is needed to know for certain. But Hoffman has some ideas of how this could work.
“In comparison to human bed partners, dogs may be better at accommodating their human’s sleep schedule,” she said. “It’s not uncommon for human bed partners to go to bed at very different times and wake up at very different times. Such differences in partners’ schedules can certainly disrupt sleep. It may be that dog bed partners adapt more readily to their owner’s schedule than do human bed partners.”
Moreover, dogs require certain schedules and responsibilities, such as a morning walk. This kind of regime helps their owners maintain a routine, improving sleep quality as a result.
Additionally, dogs tend to stay stiff as they sleep. Anyone who’s slept with a fidgety partner knows how disruptive they could be. However, women in the study reported that their dogs stayed on the bed most of the night instead of felines, who tended to come and go.
“This suggests that cats may be more likely than dogs to create disruptions by moving on and off the bed during the night. In addition, we found that dog owners kept to more consistent bedtime and wake time schedules than cat owners and also tended to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier than cat owners,” Hoffman said.
Here’s the third and most important reason: Canines provide a sense of security to their owners. More so than with cats or even human partners.
“Some dog owners may take comfort in the thought that their dog will alert them in the case of an intruder or other type of emergency; furthermore, a dog’s bark may deter a potential intruder. A cat is less likely to take on this role, and so, may not provide psychological comfort in the same way a dog might,” said Hoffman.
However, while the study suggests that dogs are the perfect slumber buddies, their benefits are subjective to each case. For example, a dog could snore or make the bed too hot. Additionally, there are many owners who find that their cats help them sleep.
Keep in mind that the research was based on how the volunteers perceive their pets’ effects on their sleeping quality and duration. As a result, more objective research is needed to definitively consider dogs the superior sleeping partners. However, Hoffman believes that these studies could be beneficial as many American households have pets.
“It will be valuable to continue this line of research so we can develop a clearer picture of the contexts under which pets and their presence in their owner’s bed may positively impact sleep quality, and the contexts under which co-sleeping with a pet may be detrimental to one’s sleep quality,” she said.
For instance, research has also shown that women sleep better while alone than with a human, but many believe in the opposite. Future research could use Fitbit-like devices to objectively track the sleep quality of people in different sleeping conditions.

My grandmother had two. I don’t know about her background, buy she had many instruments that showed she entertained often.. I have a set of 12 salt cellars with tiny crystal spoons to sift the salt from the cellars over individual food. We used them at Thanksgiving and holiday dinners.
Today none of my children know how to “play” fancy meals.

The sight of a homeless person begging in the street is so commonplace in the United States that many of us choose to ignore them.
Someone walking down the street was so appalled by the sight of a homeless man that he felt forced to photograph him.
He published it on the web, but he was unprepared for the reception it would receive.
Something about the homeless man begging for money at an Indianapolis flea market piqued his interest.
He wrote online: “I had to give this poor guy some money. I NEVER give panhandlers money… this guy’s stomach was hitting his back and ribs popping out.”
It is recommended that donations be sent to homeless shelters rather than individuals, but the generous bystander could not help himself.
He took a picture of the man and posted it online so that others might be moved to visit the spot where he was sitting and leave a donation.
Many people were moved to share the photo because they were worried about the homeless man in it.
A man named Danny, who hadn’t seen his brother Johnny in years, saw the post and immediately recognized the photo of his long-lost sibling.
He was shocked to see his brother in such a sorry condition.
“I’m so sick to my stomach right now. I can’t function to know someone is living this way and looks this bad.” Danny told TV station RTV6.
He tracked down Johnny, his brother, with the use of social media, and brought him back home to his family. According to his caregiver, Amy Renae Smith, he gradually came to see the wisdom in accepting assistance despite his initial resistance.
“He had two meals, a hit [sic] shower, a pair of clean clothes, a room to himself with quiet, a king size bed, tv w/ cable, fridge, a microwave, Pepsi, & leftovers. He is safe, and resting,” wrote Amy, according to RTV6.
Perhaps Danny would not have located his brother and provided assistance if his picture hadn’t been widely circulated online.

An amazing tale of resiliency emerged in Clarksville, Tennessee, after a devastating tornado passed through the area. Unfortunately, three people lost their life as a result of the tornado’s destructiveness in the Hol Park Mobile Home Community. A four-month-old baby named Lord had an amazing survival tale to share amidst the pandemonium.
Lord’s mother, Sydney Moore, described her terrifying experience during the tornado.
Her boyfriend rushed to save Lord, who was in a bassinet, while she protected her one-year-old son, Princeton.Unexpectedly, the bassinet with little Lord inside was swept into the air by the tornado’s extreme strength. The Lord’s survival in the bassinet despite the strong storm’s tossing was nothing short of miraculous
Moore’s initial concern after the tornado passed was where her infant was among the debris. What they saw next was really amazing – they found Lord sitting under a tree, his face severely cut. Moore believes it is nothing less than a miracle that Lord survived at all, given the severity of his injuries. To receive medical care, the family had to make their way through the devastated surroundings. In addition to the ear and head injuries suffered by Lord, the man shattered his shoulder. A broken bassinet close to their house acts as a continual reminder of the family’s arduous journey and their tenacity.
People who knew and loved Rob Burrow have come together at a funeral reception to say their final goodbyes.
The star player for the Leeds Rhinos and England passed away on June 2 after a long battle with motor neurone disease (MND). He was only 41 years old.
At the beginning of the month, hundreds of people stood in line to say goodbye to the Rugby League star.
At this point, a civil reception was held at Leeds Civic Hall to honor Rob’s life and work.
Rob’s family and about 180 other people came to the event, which was put on by Abigail Marshall Katung, the Lord Mayor of Leeds.
Jamie Jones-Buchanan, their old teammate, Tanya Curry, CEO of the MND Association, and James Lewis, leader of Leeds City Council, were also invited.
His home was in West Yorkshire. He died in a hospital near there, just hours before the ground was broken on a new center for MND research that will be named after him.
Around noon on July 7, hundreds of people began to line the streets to pay their respects as Burrow was driven to a private service.
A lot of people wearing Leeds Rhino shirts turned the roads blue. Junior players from Featherstone Lions ARLFC also showed up in their gear.
A police motorcycle rode behind the star’s hearse as it drove by the crowds.
There were then five cars behind them with the rugby legend’s wife Lindsey, whom he married in 2006, and their three children, Macy, Maya, and Jackson.
The cortege also had Rob’s sisters Joanne Hartshorne and Claire Burnett, as well as his parents Geoff and Irene.
He was buried in blue cloth that said “Dad,” “Bro,” and “Son” in white flower bouquets that were placed in the back.
His group stopped for a moment at Featherstone Lions’ ground, where the star played junior rugby. A book of condolences was opened so that people could sign it.
