Groaning, the man reluctantly got up and went to see who it was. Standing in the pouring rain was a drunken stranger, swaying unsteadily.<\/p>\n
\u201cCould you give me a push?\u201d the man slurred, water dripping off his soaked clothes.<\/p>\n
The husband stared at him in disbelief. \u201cAbsolutely not!\u201d he barked. \u201cIt\u2019s three in the morning!\u201d He slammed the door shut and stomped back to bed, muttering angrily under his breath.<\/p>\n
\u201cWho was that?\u201d his wife asked, still half-asleep.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust some drunk guy wanting a push,\u201d he grumbled.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd did you help him?\u201d she pressed.<\/p>\n
\u201cHelp him? Of course not! It\u2019s the middle of the night, and it\u2019s pouring out there!\u201d<\/p>\n
His wife sat up, turning on the bedside lamp. \u201cYou\u2019ve got a short memory,\u201d she said sternly.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t you remember when our car broke down three months ago? Those two kind strangers stopped to help us without hesitation. How can you refuse to do the same?\u201d<\/p>\n
The man sighed heavily, knowing she was right. Grumbling under his breath, he got dressed and trudged back out into the storm.
