Nate Vance, Vice-President JD Vance\u2019s cousin, slammed his cousin and President Donald Trump for their treatment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the infamous meeting at the Oval Office in February.<\/p>\n
Speaking to BBC, Nate shared his disappointment in JD Vance for belittling the Ukrainian leader.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s a certain level of decorum that I expect from political leaders, especially in front of cameras,\u201d he said, adding that the meeting\u2019s handling left him \u201cnot happy.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nate spent three years volunteering with the Ukrainian military following the war conflict with Russia.<\/p>\n

\nThis remark followed after previous comments made by Nate accusing Trump and Vance of acting as \u201cuseful idiots\u201d for Russian President Vladimir Putin in their approach to the war.<\/p>\n
Analysts considered the meeting between Trump and Vance with Zelenskyy a total debacle after it escalated into a heated argument. Trump criticized Zelenskyy while Vance questioned whether he had shown sufficient appreciation for U.S. assistance.<\/p>\n
As the meeting blew up, Trump declared that he\u2019s \u201cdetermined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved.\u201d Then, Trump asked the Ukrainian leader to leave, which he did abruptly, without securing a deal for the U.S. to receive revenue from Ukraine\u2019s minerals in exchange for military aid. Further, Trump warned Zelenskyy against \u201cgambling with World War Three\u201d and being \u201cdisrespectful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nCommenting on the president\u2019s words, Nate Vance said, \u201cZelensky does a daily or nightly address where he thanks everyone who supports Ukraine.\u201d According to him, Zelensky may not have shown \u201cenough deference to Donald Trump\u201d but expecting such deference was unreasonable given that \u201cmy cousin and Donald Trump have been actively working against his initiatives for the past three years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Also, Nate commented on the incident when a reporter asked the Ukrainian leader about his choice of outfit, and why he wasn\u2019t wearing a suit.
\n\u201cEveryone knows why he dresses that way\u2014it\u2019s symbolic. Who cares? It\u2019s a silly hill to die on,\u201d he said. He pointed out that the head of DOGE, tech-billionaire Elon Musk fails to wear a suit while at the Oval Office at certain occasions and opts for a T-shirt instead, but no reporter has ever questioned his choice of clothing.<\/p>\n

\nIn an interview with Le Figaro, Vice-President JD Vance\u2019s cousin described JD Vance as \u201ca good guy, intelligent,\u201d but depicted the encounter with Zelenskyy \u201can ambush of absolute bad faith.\u201d
\n\u201cI\u2019ve been a Republican my whole life, so this is an odd position for me to take. But I\u2019m passionate about it, and I think we\u2019re handling this issue the wrong way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
