“Divorce? John, tell me you\u2019re not serious! And what did you say? That you want a fair share?” Nicky burst out, shifting in her chair as her husband told her he was “tired” of their monotonous life and wanted to live freely.<\/p>\n
John smirked. “Oh, Nicky! You can\u2019t say you didn\u2019t see this coming. Come on, we both know there\u2019s nothing left between us. I don\u2019t want to spend the rest of my life sulking with you. I want to live as a free man. And I\u2019ll find someone\u2014beautiful and attractive\u2026 not a dead goat like you! So yes, I want a divorce from you.”<\/p>\n
“And you think I\u2019ll let you go so easily? You wish, John!” Nicky replied with a harsh tone. “You want to live as a free man, right? Well, guess what? I won\u2019t sign the divorce papers, and you won\u2019t get a single penny, let alone any share!”<\/p>\n
“You can\u2019t do that, Nicky! If you don\u2019t sign willingly, I\u2019ll make you!”<\/p>\n
Nicky laughed. “Oh, poor Johnny! What will you do? Bring your mistress home? The young ones you\u2019re seeing? They won\u2019t clean and cook for you like I did, John! “Let\u2019s see if you\u2019ll divorce willingly or keep struggling to get by and beg me for money. After all, what could a housewife do without money? Have fun, dear,” he mocked. “I can\u2019t wait for my time in Mexico!”<\/p>\n
“What? How could you\u2026 That was my savings too, John! How dare you use them without discussing it with me?”<\/p>\n
“I knew you\u2019d make a fuss about the divorce, Nicky. And that\u2019s why I planned it all this way!”<\/p>\n

Nicky was sitting in the living room, sipping raspberry tea, eating chocolate cookies, and constantly checking the clock when she heard the doorbell. Her jaw dropped when she saw John at the door. “What are you doing here? Weren’t you supposed to be in Mexico?”<\/p>\n
“Oh, Nicky! I\u2019m sorry, I\u2019m so sorry for what I did!” he begged, falling to his knees. “Please, forgive me. I was wrong to leave you. I shouldn\u2019t have done that.”<\/p>\n
Nicky was stunned. “John, what happened? Okay, calm down. Let\u2019s go inside and talk, shall we?”<\/p>\n
“Oh, Nicky! Where do I start? I met this young woman, Maddison,” he began after they sat down. “She was beautiful, and I thought she loved me. We spent two months together in Mexico\u2026 But she was a con artist! She robbed me! She took all my money and everything! We were living together in her modest apartment in Mexico. She made me do everything for her, including cooking and cleaning. She had two kids, and I even took care of them, thinking she loved me. But every night\u2026” he paused and cleared his throat.<\/p>\n
“We never slept together because the kids always came into the room, and she found excuses to leave with them. She told me she would marry me, but it was all fake\u2026 she\u2014she just wanted the money!”<\/p>\n
“Oh, dear!” Nicky said, shocked. “That\u2019s terrible\u2026 terrible\u2026 You know what\u2026” She had started to speak when the doorbell rang again.<\/p>\n
“One moment, John. Let me see who\u2019s at the door,” Nicky said, heading toward the entrance.<\/p>\n
“Who is it, Nicky?… Wh-What are you doing here?” John was stunned when he noticed Maddison on their porch. “Nicky! She\u2019s the one! She\u2019s the one who robbed me!”<\/p>\n
